Janet Creaser’s work examines the role of perception, cognition, aging, and behavior in typical driving situations. Issues explored in her research have included the use of infrastructure-based decision support systems to improve safety at rural intersections, the use of feedback and training on teen drivers' behavior, the impact of alcohol impairment on motorcycle riding performance, and the design of human-machine interfaces for in-vehicle technologies and displays.

Ms. Creaser earned her M.S. in Experimental Psychology from the University of Calgary in 2004. As a member of the Cognitive Ergonomics Research Laboratory (CERL) in Calgary, she participated in research projects supported by the Transportation Development Centre of Transport Canada. She is a member of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society.

Since joining the HumanFIRST Program, Creaser has participated in several key research efforts, including:

  • Cooperative Intersection Collision Avoidance Systems (CICAS)
  • Teen Driver Support System
  • Effects of Alcohol on Motorcycle Riding Skills
  • Evaluation of Minnesota’s Operation NightCAP
  • Rural Intersection Decision Support (IDS)
